As a design company, we are always excited to take on new challenges and help our clients bring the design to life. Recently, we had the opportunity to work with clients in Granite Bay who wanted to fully remodel their new home in a California-Mediterranean style. This is one of our personal favorite styles, as it blends the laid-back, relaxed atmosphere of California with the elegant and classic feel of Mediterranean architecture. We were thrilled to participate in the transformation of this Granite Bay home.

Over the years, the house had suffered from multiple additions, including an oversized front addition that was often mistaken for the main entrance. Our clients wanted to balance the overall feel of the floor plan and create a home better suited for entertaining while also increasing curb appeal with a welcoming entrance. One of the key elements of traditional Mediterranean homes is the blend of indoor and outdoor environments, which we kept in mind when designing the entry and courtyard space. The courtyard, with its low walls and transitional feel, captures the essence of this style.

Minor adjustments to the front of the house, including a new three-car garage, effectively split the front profile of the house and drew attention to the proper entrance. These changes helped create a more cohesive and polished look for the home while preserving the original structure’s character and charm.
